Rainy Day Backpack
The picture above is of my Onli Travel Venture Backpack, as well as my raincoat and umbrella (and my cats circling to see if I’ll feed them!), after I’ve just come in from walking home in the rain from the train station about a third of a mile away. You can see the water beaded up on the backpack, and also on my umbrella.
It beads up because the specially coated fabric repels water. So, my electronics and papers inside stay dry. So, when it rains on my commute home, I don’t have to worry about anything. I just pull my lightweight raincoat out of the bottom front pocket (I store it there in the plastic 3-1-1 cube – fits perfectly!), grab my travel raincoat from the same pocket, and go. Problem solved.
We also designed the Onli Travel Venture™ Backpack with water resistant zippers, and a compartment next to the computer case that’s perfect for stowing an extra jacket, windbreaker, or blazer. So, if it’s one of those days when you don’t know at the start of the day what the end of the day will bring, you can be prepared for anything. I also use this feature when I’m going on a business trip to a different climate.
This flexibility is also why we designed the backpack to be expandable (you’ll notice it’s expanded in the picture above), so you can have roughly 13 extra liters (about 3.5 gallons) of space when you need it. Use the close-to-your-back minimalist design when you’re on the subway, and then expand it when you get off and do your grocery shopping.
Happy commuting in the rain!
